What Is Carpal Tunnel

Carpal Tunnel is a pain in the hand that may cause tingling, numbness, pain or other things due to pressure being on the median nerve around the wrist area. Tendons and nerves run from the forearm to the wrist where this is a tiny place called the carpal tunnel. This little nerve is what controls the actions and feelings in the fingers and thumb.

The smallest amount of pressure on this median nerve can cause one to experience carpal tunnel. Some of the things that bring on carpal tunnel are arthritis, diabetes, being overweight, continual hand movements over and over again on a day to day basis, bone spurs and some wrist injuries.
