ABS, Know as Anti-Lock Brakes. It does what it says. Some people either hate it or love it. When it first came out it was a big hype, but over the years since it has either been an option or standard equipment, accidents still happen as often as they used to before it came out.. The real benefit is that the wheels don't lock up completely allowing you to steer your vehicle during an abrupt maneuver to go around an object.
The downside of this is, people think they can stop in time before hitting something , when infact you need a wider distance between you and the object to stop completely before point of impact. If you panic which most people do, they pump on the brake pedal as a natural reaction and it works against you. It is everyone right to choose what they want and need, but when repairs come into play down the road it can be very expensive. If you pay attention to whats around you when driving is the best defense you have, getting hit in the rear or on the side ABS does you no good. Drive safe , be alert and obey speed limits is the best way to avoid an accident.
